PRIVACY POLICY
Jolt Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 13, 2026
We respect your privacy. This policy includes Jolt's location, sharing, retention, and deletion practices.
1. Scope and data controller
This Privacy Policy explains how Jolt Travel ("Jolt", Android package app.jolt.client) collects, uses, shares, stores, and deletes personal data in the Jolt mobile app and website. Jolt provides ride booking, driver dispatch, rental, account, payment, safety, and support services.
For privacy questions or requests, contact support@jolt.travel.
2. Information we collect
- Account and profile information, such as name, email address, phone number, role, profile photo, and driver or identity documents you choose or are required to provide.
- Booking and transaction information, such as pickup and drop-off details, trip times, assigned driver or partner, price, payment method, status, receipts, and support history.
- Precise or approximate location, depending on the feature, permission, device, and operating-system setting you choose.
- Device and app information, such as device identifiers, push-notification tokens, IP address, app version, language, diagnostic logs, security events, and consent choices.
- Messages, shared chat locations, ratings, reports, and communications sent through Jolt or to support.
- Analytics and marketing measurement data where permitted by applicable law and your consent choices.
3. How we use information
- Create and secure accounts, authenticate users, and provide customer and driver features.
- Calculate routes and estimated prices, create bookings, dispatch drivers, operate active trips, process payments, and provide receipts and support.
- Show relevant live trip progress and estimated arrival information to the assigned customer, driver, or transport partner.
- Send service and safety notifications, prevent fraud and abuse, investigate incidents, enforce our terms, and comply with legal obligations.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, measure, and improve Jolt services and, where permitted, measure advertising campaigns.
4. Precise location and background driver location
Customers can use precise location while using the app to choose pickup points, calculate routes, follow an active trip, or share a location in order chat. Customers can also enter an address manually where that option is available.
For an approved driver who explicitly chooses to be Available, Jolt collects and transmits precise location to support ride dispatch and to show the driver's live position and estimated arrival to the assigned customer. This driver location may be collected even when the app is closed or not in use. Background location may also continue during an assigned active trip, including when the driver is not accepting another booking.
Jolt shows an in-app prominent disclosure before requesting foreground or background location permission. A driver can choose Not now and remain unavailable. Background collection stops when it is no longer required for availability or an active trip, when the driver signs out, when permission is withdrawn in device settings, or when the operating system stops the service. Jolt does not use precise location for advertising.
5. When we share information
We share only what is reasonably necessary to operate, secure, and support the service. Recipients may include:
- The assigned customer, driver, or transport partner, including live location and trip progress where required for that booking.
- Service providers that support hosting, maps and routing, communications, push notifications, payments, analytics, fraud prevention, and customer support, subject to contractual or legal safeguards.
- Public authorities, courts, advisers, insurers, or other parties when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect users, Jolt, or the public.
- A successor in a merger, financing, reorganisation, or sale, subject to appropriate confidentiality and legal requirements.
6. Data retention and deletion
Jolt does not retain all data indefinitely. Live operational location is short-lived: the current live-location cache normally expires within 120 seconds after the last update. A final live point can remain available briefly after a trip ends, for no more than 120 minutes, so the trip can close safely.
Encrypted trip-location snapshots and precise locations shared in order chat are normally retained for 30 days from collection and are then automatically deleted or redacted by scheduled cleanup. A longer period may be used only when configured for a documented safety, dispute, fraud-prevention, or legal need, and never for more than 365 days.
Account and booking records are kept while the account is active and afterward only as long as needed to provide the service, handle disputes and chargebacks, prevent fraud, maintain financial and tax records, and meet legal obligations. Security logs, support records, consent records, and analytics are kept for the period needed for those purposes or the shorter period required by law or provider settings, then deleted or anonymised.
When a valid deletion request is completed, Jolt deletes or anonymises data that is no longer required. Some records may be retained for an applicable statutory period, or while a payment, safety report, dispute, fraud investigation, or legal claim remains unresolved. Backups are removed on their normal secure rotation schedule.
7. No sale of personal data
Jolt does not sell personal data. Precise location is not shared with advertisers or used for targeted advertising.
8. Security and international processing
Jolt uses administrative, technical, and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal data, including access controls and encryption where appropriate. No system can guarantee absolute security. Service providers may process data in countries other than your own, with safeguards required by applicable law.
9. Your choices and rights
- Change foreground or background location permission at any time in the device settings. Drivers can also turn off availability in Jolt.
- Change notification and analytics consent choices where those controls are offered.
- Request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection where provided by applicable law.
- Delete your account through the in-app account controls where available, or contact support@jolt.travel.
- Complain to your local data-protection authority if you believe your rights have been violated.
10. Children, changes, and contact
Jolt is not directed to children who are not legally permitted to create an account or book transport in their country. We do not knowingly collect personal data from a child in violation of applicable law.
We may update this policy when our services or legal obligations change. We will post the updated date here and provide additional notice when required.
